Web Mapping

Web Mapping in Kenya — Geo-Tracts Land Surveyors
Overview

Web Mapping by Registered Surveyors

A topographical survey captures the shape of the land and everything sitting on it — natural features, built features, services, and anything else that matters to a designer. It is the first technical drawing on most construction projects.

Geo-Tracts produces topographical surveys that architects and civil engineers actually want to design from: tight contour intervals, accurately positioned services (sewers, water mains, manholes, electricity poles, fibre boxes), and full feature detail — trees, fences, retaining walls, kerbs, edge of pavement, tops and toes of slopes.

Three deliverables in one

Every topo survey we produce is delivered as: (1) a 2D plan with contours and features in CAD format, (2) a 3D digital terrain model (DTM) ready for grading studies and earthworks volumes, and (3) a signed PDF plan for the project file. For larger sites we add an aerial orthomosaic.

Drone vs. ground survey

For sites larger than about 2 hectares, drone photogrammetry combined with ground control points is faster and produces denser data than ground survey alone. For tight urban sites with overhead obstructions, robotic total station work remains the more reliable choice. We pick the right combination for your site.

Accuracy you can build from

Standard topographical surveys are delivered to ±5 cm horizontal and ±3 cm vertical against the national grid. Tighter accuracies are available on request for high-precision applications.

What you get

  • Contour mapping at intervals from 0.25 m upward
  • 3D digital terrain models (DTM) for design
  • Detailed feature surveys (services, structures, vegetation)
  • Drone photogrammetry for large or vegetated sites
  • CAD outputs (DWG, DXF) plus signed PDF plans
  • Earthworks volume computations on request

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no formal expiry, but most consultants prefer survey data not older than 12 months. If significant ground change has occurred (cuts, fills, new structures), a re-survey is recommended.

Yes — we routinely survey live construction sites. We just need access and a brief safety induction from the contractor.

We map visible service indicators (manholes, valve covers, hydrants). Tracing buried services requires specialist GPR or electromagnetic equipment, which we can arrange via partners when needed.
